The OG silent superstar of Bollywood, Tusshar Kapoor, is having quite the moment! His debut flick, Mujhe Kucch Kehna Hai, just hit its 25-year mark on May 25. And guess what? His landmark comedy, Golmaal, is turning 20 on July 14. Talk about milestones, yaar! But the real tadka from his recent chat with Bollywood Hungama? Some juicy updates on the much-awaited Golmaal 5. And trust me, you're gonna want to hear this.
Lucky's Loud Silence: The Untold Origin Story
You know Lucky, right? The guy who doesn't speak a word but still manages to bring the house down with his hilarious antics and those signature sounds. Honestly, who doesn't try to mimic him sometimes? Turns out, our beloved Lucky wasn't even in the original plan!
Tusshar revealed that the character was added later and was initially envisioned by writer Neeraj Vora as completely silent. As in, proper sign language silent. But here's where it gets interesting. When Tusshar was signed, Sharman Joshi suggested he train with theatre actor Vikas Kadam. And Kadam, bless his creative soul, had a brilliant idea. "Since he can hear, let's give him sounds that he is trying to vocalize, even though he is unable to articulate words," he said. So, instead of just quiet, Lucky became a "brattish" and "badass" character making those unforgettable noises. What an experiment that turned into an iconic role! Tusshar even confessed that fans only want him to do Lucky's act everywhere he goes. Full paisa vasool, I say!
Golmaal 5: Rohit Shetty's Hustle and Half-Done Dhamaka
Now, for the main course: Golmaal 5! Tusshar dropped a bombshell, saying a whopping 80-90% of the shoot is already over. Can you believe it? These guys have been quietly working away, and we barely knew! He gushed about reuniting with his co-stars and, of course, the mastermind himself, Rohit Shetty.
Tusshar couldn't stop praising Shetty, calling him the "hardest-working director" he's ever seen. And honestly, knowing Shetty's track record, that's not hard to believe. Tusshar painted a picture of Shetty being the first one on set and the last to leave, inspiring the entire crew. No wonder his films look so slick and organized. He's a machine, that man! Tusshar sounded genuinely impressed, and frankly, so am I. This kind of dedication usually translates to a solid product.
Akshay Kumar Joins the Madness: "Icing on the Cake!"
The biggest new addition to the Golmaal family, as we all know, is none other than Akshay Kumar. He's joining the usual suspects β Ajay Devgn, Arshad Warsi, Sharman Joshi, and Shreyas Talpade. Remember that bald look of his that got everyone talking? Tusshar stayed mum on what Akshay's role entails, but he did drop a major hint.
He mentioned this is his fifth film with Akshay sir (including Laxmii, which Tusshar produced). But then he added, "The work I have done with Akshay sir in Golmaal 5 will be the icing on the cake for my career as well!" Now, that's a statement. Coming from an actor who's been around for 25 years, it means something pakka. It sounds like Akshay's role isn't just a cameo, but something significant that genuinely excites Tusshar. We've heard whispers about Akshay's fee being baseless, but frankly, who cares about the money when we're getting this kind of star power in a Golmaal film? My excitement levels are officially through the roof! Can't wait for this one to hit screens.
